Hoot Camp circuit training in three ability-based tracks Β· Home of Rock Steady Boxing, East County's first affiliate

Two programs. One way of training.

Whatever you walk in with, we start there and build. Every class is coached, every exercise scales, and nobody trains alone.

Hoot Camp

Circuit-style group fitness for older adults who want to train like athletes.

Each session builds strength, power, balance, and cardio β€” all scaled to your abilities. Expect to sweat, laugh, and leave stronger than you came in.

Rock Steady Boxing

Non-contact, boxing-inspired training designed to fight back against Parkinson's.

Footwork, power, balance, voice work, and reaction drills β€” in a community that gets it. Levels scale to where you are today.

About Rock Steady

Most "senior fitness" is light movement. This isn't.

Taking it easy doesn't build the strength and balance you need to stay independent. We use progressive resistance training β€” starting where you are, then systematically raising the challenge as you get stronger.

  • Every exercise scales across four levels, standing to fully seated
  • Balance and fall-prevention work built into every class
  • Small classes with a reserved spot, so coaches can adjust in real time
  • Similar-ability members train together, so the pace fits
A Hoot Camp circuit class in action at Wise Owl Fit

Which Hoot Camp track fits you?

Each class runs at one track, so everyone in the room trains at a similar level. Read the three descriptions and pick the one that sounds like you β€” we'll confirm it together at your first class.

Track 1

Independent

You move well on your own β€” up and down from the floor without help, steady on your feet, endurance to go the whole session. Track 1 keeps you strong and pushes you further.

Track 2

Steady

You're active and capable β€” but getting off the floor, tackling stairs, or sustaining a long effort takes more than it used to. Track 2 rebuilds that strength and steadiness, at a pace that fits you.

Track 3

Adaptive

Movement takes more support right now β€” maybe you're managing Parkinson's, recovering from a stroke, or bringing a caregiver along. This is your room, at your pace, with coaches and people who get it.

Wise Owl Fit is the first Rock Steady Boxing affiliate in East County San Diego.

No boxing experience needed. You'll never get hit β€” it's heavy bags, focus mitts, and footwork, in 45-minute sessions coached by Rock Steady–trained coaches following the official curriculum. Whether you're newly diagnosed or years in, the program adapts to you. And you're not alone in this: we're in your corner.

Rock Steady Boxing doesn't include a FREE trial. We ask for a physician's clearance before your first class β€” and you're welcome to visit and watch anytime.

The Soar Squad β€” Wise Owl Fit members together after class

You'll join the Soar Squad

Training in a small group with people at your level does something a solo program can't: it makes you show up. Our members cheer each other's first floor get-up, first pull, first round on the bag β€” and then they go for coffee.

Membership works on reserved spots. You pick the class times you'll come each week, we hold your place, and classes stay small. If life gets in the way, we'll help you make it up.

Wise Owl Fit is young, but the Soar Squad keeps showing up. Every milestone we mark is really a room full of people who came back, again and again.

From our members

Treasure and her mother Gloria at Wise Owl Fit
In just four weeks I have more strength and muscle tone. I can climb the stairs at home easier, and I have more endurance at work — I feel better overall! My mom Gloria, who has dementia, is in better moods and more mentally alert. She uses a walker, but she’s definitely more mobile and gets out of her chair easier.
Treasure & her mom Gloria
Track 1 & Track 3
Before Wise Owl I felt my body wearing out daily — stairs were almost impossible. After only six weeks: more energy, fewer aches, and stairs aren’t nearly as hard. I love the one-on-one attention — they know how to modify or challenge each exercise just for me.
Kathy V.Kathy V.
Track 1
I came in after two years of physical therapy for back pain. My pain hasn’t returned, and I’m so much fitter than when I started. The focus on doing every exercise correctly really helps.

My experience has been awesome. I feel stronger, more confident, and the instructors are amazing. Anyone over 55 should join!

Common questions

Honest answers. If yours isn't here, call us β€” a real person picks up.

I'm too out of shape to start. Is this for me?

You're exactly who we designed this for. Every exercise scales across four levels, from standing to fully seated, and our coaches adjust in real time. Your first class is about finding your starting point, not proving anything.

I have balance problems and I've had falls.

Balance work is built into every class, and we modify on the spot. Track 2 and Track 3 are made for members who want to feel steadier β€” that's much of why they come.

Isn't it safer to take it easy at my age?

Most older adults are training too lightly, not too hard. Low intensity doesn't build the strength and balance you need to stay independent. We raise the challenge gradually and carefully β€” that's the whole point of progressive training.

How does membership work?

You reserve specific class times each week β€” one, two, or three sessions β€” and we hold your spot. Reserved spots keep classes small, which is what keeps them safe and coached well. Drop-ins are available when space allows. Service and couples discounts apply; ask us for current details.

What if I miss a class?

We have flexibility for makeups. Let us know and we'll find you another spot that week.

How is Wise Owl Fit different from other 55+ classes?

Most classes for older adults are light movement. We use progressive resistance training with real equipment β€” starting where you are and systematically increasing the challenge β€” in a group of people at your level.

Do I need a Parkinson's diagnosis for Rock Steady Boxing?

Rock Steady is designed for people living with Parkinson's. Care partners, ask us about ways to take part. We do ask for a physician's clearance before your first class, and we welcome visitors who want to watch.
