Karl Burris is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and a lifelong Santee native who believes that getting older and getting stronger aren't mutually exclusive.

After years in clinical practice, Karl saw a gap that frustrated him: adults over 55 were being treated like patients when they should be trained like athletes. That conviction became the foundation of Wise Owl Fit — a group fitness facility built specifically for adults 55 and older, where every member is treated as an athlete in training.

Karl brings deep knowledge of how the body ages and what it takes to keep it strong, mobile, and resilient — and has built Wise Owl Fit's programming around exactly that. Just across the hall, he also operates Live Life Physiotherapy, an outpatient physical therapy practice serving the Santee community.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Santee Chamber of Commerce. Wise Owl Fit reflects everything Karl believes about aging: that strength is built, resilience is trained, and your best years of movement aren't behind you.

Head Coach · Rock Steady Boxing

Danielle Barrett is a fitness boxer and the Head Coach for the Rock Steady Boxing program at Wise Owl Fit. When she's not motivating members in the gym, she's boxing herself or running around to soccer tournaments with her kids.
