Karl Burris, physical therapist and owner of Wise Owl Fit

Karl Burris, PT, DPT, OCS

Owner & Founder
PWR! for Parkinson’s Certified Clinician and Exercise Instructor
Rock Steady Boxing Coach

Karl Burris is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and a lifelong Santee native who believes that getting older and getting stronger aren’t mutually exclusive.

After years in clinical practice, Karl saw a gap that frustrated him: adults over 55 were being treated like patients when they should be trained like athletes. That conviction became the foundation of Wise Owl Fit — a group fitness facility built specifically for adults 55 and older, where every member is treated as an athlete in training.

Karl brings deep knowledge of how the body ages and what it takes to keep it strong, mobile, and resilient — and has built Wise Owl Fit’s programming around exactly that. Just across the hall, he also operates Live Life Physiotherapy, an outpatient physical therapy practice serving the Santee community. He’s an active community member as well, serving on the Board of Directors of the Santee Chamber of Commerce.

Wise Owl Fit reflects everything Karl believes about aging: that strength is built, resilience is trained, and your best years of movement aren’t behind you.

Danielle Barrett, Rock Steady Boxing head coach

Danielle Barrett

Head Coach, Rock Steady Boxing

Danielle Barrett is a fitness-based boxing coach and the head coach for Rock Steady Boxing. She has a deep motivation to help our Parkinson’s community and strongly encourages our boxers to “Stay in the Fight!”

When she’s not motivating members at the gym, she’s shuttling her two daughters around to their activities like soccer and swimming — so don’t be surprised if you see her out around town, always on the go! She loves boxing for fitness herself and learns more about the sport each week, and she’s always up to challenge herself in any group fitness class she can, with community and friends. Most of all, she loves meeting new people in San Diego and helping them get connected and involved.
